Very Important Information For Everyone In The Cosmos Ecosystem!

Good Evening Everyone! To start, it’s a real pleasure building on Cosmos. I made test projects on different chains and ultimately chose Cosmos not just because of the ease of use but the welcoming attitude towards innovation. I should add that this post may run a little long so please bear with me, it’ll be worth the read. The Atom Registry is a major project with a lot of moving parts and while I provided periodic updates, it’s just now having so many of the functions coming online into full production. The Multi TLD Registry is fully functioning now at https://atomregistry.com and I deliberately set the cost low to onboard TLD owners. The smart contracts are directly on Cosmos Hub, too so they will be functional as long as Cosmos is. A TLD Owner has full policy control over the pricing of their subdomains and the Widgets page is up now though it likely needs a little more testing. The browser extension is fully functional, too. I’ll get back to that later, though and I’m happy to answer any questions about the set up. Great work, seriously i am impressed. This looks like something that could finally add a solid identity layer to cosmos, which has clearly been missing. In my opinion a project like this definitely deserves a grant from the community pool. It would also be great to hear what others think, i am really curious about the broader community feedback. From my side this is genuinely a great piece of work. I hope adoption takes off because if it does, you could end up setting the standards in this space!

One thought from a my perspective. If you really want this to succeed long term, I’d focus heavily on integrations. Full support in wallets like keplr,cosmostation,leap and ledger would be huge. Also worth talking to core teams about pushing this as a standard across ibc, that’s where this really becomes infrastructure. And honestly open spec plus solid documentation is critical. GitHub clear standards, something others can build on top of. If you nail those pieces this could go way further than just a single project

I set pricing so low to help it gain traction. I was also very deliberate in choosing to deploy directly onto Cosmos Hub so that it’s functional with every chain on IBC along with the wallets. Being able to store a complete website onchain and it render back perfectly in a browser extension or my Search page is pretty awesome, too.

A feedback category here would be great although to my thinking, submitting a formal proposal to become the Official Multi TLD Registrar on Cosmos Hub would be sure to invite massive feedback.

Your idea is genuinely strong, but the risk is also high. Now that you’ve got something working, i think it’s a good moment to focus on proper docs and then start talking directly with core teams. For projects like this broad feedback and open discussion are actually a good thing. If it’s meant to become part of the hub, it should go through that level of scrutiny. Keep your head up nothing ever comes easy. If you manage to convince the core teams, you might be able to secure a grant to push the project further and from there things can really start moving Good luck

I don’t actually need any grants or funding. I’m not bragging or anything, just stating a fact. I can afford the low entry point for onboarding users. More than anything, becoming a legitimate part of the Cosmos Ecosystem would be validating. One avenue of thought that I’m pursuing is that by becoming the Offical TLD Registrar for Cosmos, I would migrate an updated contract for the registry to have half of the earnings be directed into a Cosmos LP for a period of 1 year and then those earnings be returned to me but interest free to help the Hub grow.

I get the idea behind not needing funding that actually makes sense. But if this is aiming to become the official registrar how do you see decentralization playing out here? Would this remain something you control or are you thinking about handing parts of it over to governance over time?

I’d be willing to hand over management if it was the Official TLD Registry almost immediately. I’m a builder and techno nerd and management keeps me from digging into code where I actually belong. I think I should have a large voice on tech matters of course. I’m so deep in the weeds on testing and making sure that the tech is secure that it would be needed. Ultimately, though, it has to be positioned to go and grow on without me. It’s no good if I’m holding the reins and the project dies when I do.

I respect that approach. If you can pull that off and transition it properly over time this could turn into something really solid for the hub. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it

Nice to see the progress since our last exchange. This already feels more concrete, better organized and just easier to understand overall. Putting the docs together was a good step too even as a rough draft, it helps a lot. I’m honestly very positive about where this is going. If you keep building like this, this could turn into something really valuable for the cosmos ecosystem. Rooting for you

One small request: please add an Amino fallback (signAmino) for Ledger users. My Ledger still can’t sign the current transaction flow, so right now I’m basically blocked from buying domains. Since you mentioned earlier that prices won’t stay the same, I’d really love to see that supported soon
