I want to begin by making it clear that I’m a community member seeking feedback. I am not affiliated with either the Cosmos Hub or Stargaze teams. However, I sincerely hope that leadership from both sides will engage with this post. Purpose of This Post The goal is to understand how the broader community views the potential value and demand for moving Stargaze to the Cosmos Hub . This is a call for input, reflection, and open discussion. Why Stargaze Matters Stargaze is the cultural heart of the IBC-connected ecosystem . Most users in the Cosmos community, whether here or on X, use PFPs that were minted on Stargaze. I, like many others, stayed in Cosmos because of the energy and fun that Stargaze brought to the ecosystem. I believe it would be a missed opportunity if the Hub did not explore a formal proposal to acquire Stargaze. The Stargaze community and core team are exceptional. They have built consistently through the hardest times. As a testament to that resilience, they have recently: • Integrated AKT and BTC as a supported token • Supported a fundraiser for sick children directly on the front page The Cosmos Hub needs more apps and active users .…

I don’t understand why anything would be paid. It is already beneficial to both Stargaze and the Hub for them to simply move their contracts over. However, it sort of feels like this is dead in the water. I think Shane was open to the idea because the Hub would have permissionless CosmWasm, but now that the plan has shifted to moving to the EVM, I don’t see Stargaze coming over anymore.

Stargaze should migrate to the hub on its own, without permission, buyout, nor funding. The hub doesn’t need Stargaze, the hub will be permissionless and hundreds of applications can be built on it. Stargaze doesn’t count. Stargaze doesn’t have the number of users we’re trying to tell you here, Stargaze should migrate to PSS for better economic alignment between the two blockchains.

Would it not be beneficial for Stargaze if they could open up the doors for the EVM-based community as well?

Certainly reasonable to assume that. Maybe Shane is open to it, I don’t know. I’m just surmising based off what I’ve seen of his public commentary.

I love your passion and respect your post. As a validator we believe Stargaze would bring traffic and thus fees to the Hub, which benefits stakers. I use Stargaze and think the merger is a no-brainer. I think everyone agrees. Valuation is the sticking point. I don’t agree that Stargaze should be paid nothing. That’s an insult to the team that has continued to build a great product through a brutal bear market.

I’m in no way involved behind the scenes in any negotiations or discussions between the teams, but my understanding is that some egos got their feathers ruffled. If true, I hope the egos involved can center themselves and put the best interest of the projects’ first.

The Hub community pool is sitting idle and more ATOM is being continually added. Buying a great team and platform with users for 7.5% of the CP instead of 15% makes sense and is certainly something we would vote YES on. I did not verify your math and am simply taking it at face value.

I encourage you to seek consensus from the Stargaze community on the Stargaze forum, get it passed and then bring it here for further discussion and if people think it makes sense, post it on-chain as a Hub prop.

It’s not an insult to the team. People could copy-paste the contracts right now if they wanted to. I don’t see why they would be paid by the CP.

Cloning a contract does not come with users or loyal community. They built a business that has value. Plus, the CP funds are idle so why not grow the Hub by acquiring a reasonably priced productive asset?

I think we should keep Cosmwasm but the earlier Stargaze prop had plans for an EVM marketplace. There needs to be some kind of payment or incentive for them to build and move their assets over. Do you think DAO DAO, Hydro, or any of the Hub development would have happened without any money behind it?

I would also love to see ETH NFTs on Stargaze.

How many users are you looking for? What other applications outside of StrideDEX will launch?

Running and operating a product involves much more than just writing contracts. Customer support alone is a major undertaking and that’s just one part of the job.

Cosmos hub has already a strong community. Maybe stronger than stars’ one. Certain smart contract Adoption would be easy

I don’t see how a community that tries to plunder the hub’s CP with a more than questionable proposal could be a good acquisition for the hub community. Either Stargaze revises its buyout proposal significantly downwards, or the buyout will not happen. Because the hub doesn’t need to spend so much for so little.

Many were originally really excited to see Stargaze wanting to merge with the hub… but under these conditions I’d rather we give it up.

NFT marketplaces are simple to make. They’ve been done a thousand times now. It will be easy to put this on the Hub natively for 1/10th of the price. Let’s just do it ourselves if it’s going to cost anything.

After the news today it seems like you will have to do it yourself anyway. Good luck.

After reading the latest posts, I’d like to apologize to you. Hub is going nowhere and more excuses and rocket ship emojis get posted while nothing changes. Hub wont even have smart contracts. There’s no reason for stargaze to join this dumpster fire. Anything is preferable to the Hub at this point. Completely useless joke of a chain.

hub has permissioned CW . Stargaze could deploy

RE

Hub has flip flopped and doubled down on BS app chain garbage. All the EVM fake promises down the drain. All the actual products now thrown in the trash. This pathetic excuse of a blockchain has nothing to offer. Rage quit has loaded, going back to ETH where actual users and smart contracts exist.

Copying my comment made in another post : About Asteroid Protocol : Went there and honestly it was a dead place. Sometimes there wasn’t a single mint or buy in like 2 weeks. I bought 2 NFTs there and regret it, they are unsellable and money is 100% lost. I saw zero activity, the only people minting I guess were creators minting other creators collection, or even their own collection to simulate activity. I think there is more volume in 1 day on Stargaze that they were in Asteroid in its total lifetime lol Just checked, the last buy (0,4 atom) on Asteroid was July 9 , 8 days ago… and the previous one before that was July the 1st. No one is using Asteroid, let’s be honest My point is, just thinking that creating a new Marketplace is easy and will automatically bring people is false. We can say all we want about Stars price action, which is super bad and rekt every single person who ever invested in it , the Marketplace had and still have loyal users and activity. Just copying protocol and website doesn’t mean people on other platform will come. Starting a new platform from zero, with zero collection, zero NFTs, zero creator is actually super risky, there is nothing on it ,…

Apology accepted. The hub still has Cosmwasm and hopefully it won’t be going anywhere. It makes it even easier for Stargaze and other teams to have outposts on it.

I was just listening the latest interview of @Mag by the DefiGeeks community, and I was happy to hear Magmar reiterating how important NFTs’ communities are for the whole ecosystem. So many pleople don’t understand that the passionate users who reply to their tweets and watch their videos are NFT holders. NFTs do not need to x1000% to be considered and be important. NFTs can act as a binding agent, a fidelity badges, galvanizing and bringing people together rallying behind chains and projects. Now, in regards to the deal with Stargaze, here’s the solution that I think could satisfy everyone: 1- The Stargaze team slightly lower their expectation on the proposal’s asking price. The fact that the price has fallen tenfold over the year in an endless fall should be taken into account and can be seen as a failure in some aspect. The revenue generated/burn obviously didn’t counter the selling pressure. There’s no reason for this detail to be completely ignored, and the Atom community shouldn’t bear full responsibility for it. A cut of around 30% on each part of the proposal should be considered; this reduces the acquisition from approximately 13 million to 9 million. 2- The Atom…

A lot has happened since this was first posted. I think it’s worth revisiting now with permissionless CW on the hub.

Stargaze seems to be the number one requested app by Mag

Without the hub there is no stargaze, no osmosis, no anything. the appeal of multichain ecosystem is the only reason these apps exist, and there are great applications in cosmos but the issue is saturation of tokens. When a token fails, the entire application is shunned by its users and abandoned. Tokens like osmo, stars, neutron should not exist, these should have switched to ICS long ago and used atom the whole time. People are not upset about ICS or multichain, they don’t even want permissionless cosmwasm on hub, they are just begging for their bags to not go to zero. Multichain should not mean multicoin.
