We are currently reviewing all of the submissions. This is taking some time, however you will be informed over the next few days if you are approved or if there is something missing (i.e forgot to sign the waiver).

Hi guys, I’m super excited by the fantastic participation in the Gsame of Stakes sign ups. The team is working our way through the registrations and checking for signed waivers. Not having a signed waiver is the most common reason for rejection. If we have time after we processed all the signups, we will reach out to see if we can get signed waivers from folks left out their signature or deal with someone of late registration requests that have come in. Here is what’s coming next. I’m targeting November 5th for the start of Game of Stakes. Here is how Game of Stakes will start. We will not be doing a decentralized network start for Game of Stakes. Instead Tendermint will run some centralized validator nodes and all the accepted applications addresses will start the game with Stake. After approximately 12 hours, the Tendermint validator nodes will unbond and the network will be operated by the players. Your chances of winning of will be maximized by bonding a validator immediately at start. Given the global distribution of players, it’s impossible to pick a time thats convenient to everyone. I’ll be on Pacific time then. I’ll update on zero hour as we get closer.…

I am currently estimating that we will push back the Game of Stakes start till Nov 12th.

I haven’t been able to make my deadline for launching gaia-9000. DevCon has proved to be to distracting/ endless meetings.

We did finish the initial triage of applications and are going to reach and try and get signed waivers from folks who didn’t supply them.

Thanks for the update Zaki, it has truly been hard to focus on anything else during DevCon. I think there are still some questions open regarding the Game of Stakes and I think that the pushed back start is a great opportunity to answer some of those questions beforehand.

So what I would be suggesting/asking for is that the Cosmos team is doing an AMA about the GoS. This could happen either on Riot, Youtube or Twitch (I saw that the cosmos dev team streams there with username “cosmos_development”). It could be one hour sometime in the next week. I understand that the timing of this is tricky since all validators are living in different time zones, but I’m confident we can manage that as we also had many successful, international launch ceremonies.

What do you think about this? I believe, this could enhance the whole experience of GoS, because everyone can ask questions officially.

Yes, we are planning on having a live Q&A on Wednesday for Game of Stakes. Hopefully, we can get the community more details in the next day.

I am actually planning on attending the Q&A session, but just in case, I will upload my questions here as well: • I read that the total prize pool for GoS is 300,000 Atoms, but it wasn’t very clear if this prize will be given in a form of delegation from Cosmos Team (Interchain Foundation), or as a pure transferring of Atoms to the winning attendants. Is the Interchain Foundation planning to delegate their Atoms to participants who show excellent performance during the Game of Stakes? Or are they planning to delegate Atoms based on different standard of evaluation? • Most of the Validator nodes are located in Europe and the US, and therefore, I assume that the connection from Korea or other Asian countries are unstable. Have you considered any handicap advantage options for regions with unstable connection due to location factor? • What is the KEY to winning the Game of Stakes? The rule says that we are able to increase the amount of stake through actions such as 1. Staying Online, 2. Delegating, 3. Producing Blocks and 4. “Certain other actions and challenges completed during the game”. Although you may not be able to share…

1. It seems like Gaia9000 will be right around this week or next monday. How long after Gaia9000 will preparation for GoS take?

2. After looking at SDK 0.25, i realized that the cosmos address format has changed. Will we be using the new address format which is different from what we submitted for GoS registration? If so, do we have to restore the new cosmos address format using Seed Key?

It might be prudent to touch upon https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/issues/2726 and the degree to and methods by which the ICF will exercise fiat power in altering the reward function or punishing/rewarding participants mid-Game.

If you are checking for your address in genesis.json, all addresses are converted from how they were submitted to the cosmos prefixed format.

You can use a small program to do so or recover your keys in gaiacli v0.26

What expect next from Game of Stakes So we said Monday for Game of Stakes and we are having a meeting Monday morning Pacific time to make a call on when exactly we will launch. `Gaia-9001` is going amazing so we are definitely nearly there. You are already seeing early game of stakes style competition with validators moving to quickly withdraw and bond their inflationary rewards. There are some things we’ve been thinking about. Start One of things I am thinking about is setting the min and max inflation such that large inflation doesn’t kick until after the Tendermint validators unbind. This makes it a much smaller advantage to start your validator immediately at genesis and makes things fairer for people in all timezones. Think can be done setting a min inflation of 1% and max inflation of 1000% and allocation 90% of starting tokens to the Tendermint validators. We are having a meeting Monday morning Pacific time to discuss timing out GoS launch but I don’t want anyone to stay awake all night and I think this is a viable solution. Hi Jinbin you received a rejection response which is why you aren’t in the genesis file. Unfortunately, you didn’t sign the waiver. We needed actual signatures on the waivers.

Just a quick update for everybody that’s checking this thread. This is from Zaki:

“Gaia-9002 is targeting Wed and Game of Stakes will depend on a successful gaia-9002 launch”

I’d like to confirm that Game of Stakes will start no earlier than Nov 19.

We are still planning gaia-9002 for Wed/Thursday and a stable gaia-9002 will be a blocker on Game of Stakes

This issue basically thwarts my strategy for starting Game of Stakes centralized and then decentralizing it after the game has started.

Options are either change the startup plan for a more de-centralized start or fix that issue.

Yes, if you are in it all is good and you have checked and been following the repo. There were about 15 people or so for whom we didn’t have an email address - this could explain why. Good luck!

Hi. Zaki, I have a question about GoS victory criteria. I read about victory criteria of GoS in github repo. To determine the winners, Tendermint will primarily consider the uptime (precommit votes on the blockchain) of the validators (operated by the original GoS signup accounts), rather than the total bonded stake or total amount of atoms held. This means that delegating or transferring stake from Sybil accounts does not directly lead to winning. In this paragraph, the uptime(precommit votes on the blockchain) is the most important thing in GoS. I understand consequtive downtime means a “break” of validator, but occasional missing block happens because of geological difference and deep level of sentry architecture for the strong security. And also, occasional missing block does not affect the total rewards because DelAccum increases even if a validator misses precommit. So, my question is that, is “the occasional(=not consequtive) missing blocks” also the crucial part of the victory criteria of GoS? In this case, validators in remote location should consider temporarily moving their validator server to the United States, and also need to make sentry architecture less…

What we are expecting to see in GoS, is that users will accumulate large amounts of stake and start censoring either on their own via cartels.

Acquiring stake is still very important to win because accumulating relative stake enables less coordination among cartels.

@bharvest raises a good point - since an uptime metric will include occasional missed blocks, it will incentive centralization, making the GoS less realistic.

It is basically a proposal to delay GoS until we have a stable release with a testnet running for a at least week without any major bugs.

I recalled the original plan was to have a stable testnet for a week before the start of GoS, so postponing now makes sense.

In the process of the newest upgrade to GoS4 (mainly because of major upgrades in the software), a pull request has been filed on github to fork out a cartel that has gained 53% of bonded stake in GoS3. If you are interested in what exactly is happening check out the PR or read directly into the analysis of how the cartel was detected in this great article by Certus One!
